Trump Just Admitted He’s Been Stealing From His Own Charity

Before Trump has even taken office, his “charitable” organization has already admitted it broke the law. The organization now admits it violated regulations against “self-dealing,” or the use of charity money to enrich oneself, one’s business or their families.

The documents show that Trump has been stealing from his own charity to get him richer and/or out of financial binds. The admission was contained in the Donald J. Trump Foundation’s 2015 IRS tax filings, as reported by The Washington Post:

In one section of the form, the IRS asked if the Trump Foundation had transferred “income or assets to a disqualified person.” A disqualified person, in this context, might be Trump — the foundation’s president — or a member of his family, or a Trump-owned business.

The foundation checked “yes.”

Another line on the form asked if the Trump Foundation had engaged in any acts of self-dealing in prior years. The Trump Foundation checked “yes” again.

The Trump Organization is now subject to fines, penalties and could also be required to repay the money he used for his own gain.

Throughout Trump’s campaign, many questions have been raised his sketchy use of the non-profit’s coffers, like when he used $258,000 from the charity’s bank account to settle his own legal problems. Or when he bought a six-foot portrait of himself for $20,000,using other people’s money.

Even before that came to light, the Trump Organization was looked into by the New York Attorney General Office over concerns that foundation may have been involved in “some impropriety,” in self-dealing as far back as 2007. Since then, it has been revealed that Trump has been using the Foundation to launder his income through and avoid paying taxes on millions and as a way to dispense legal bribes.

These new IRS documents all but confirm these legal concerns. The filing lists a donation of $566,370 from the Trump Corporation (owned entirely by Trump himself), and a $50,000 gift from Trump Productions (also owned by Trump and behind The Apprentice).

Will the Trump Organization introduce yet another conflict of interest into the Trump administration? You bet. It is, however, unclear at this time how Trump will use it to enrich himself, but it’s safe to say he’ll find a way. He is incapable of passing up an opportunity to stretch his pockets.
