More of the same from the GOP

When it comes to calling out Republican hypocrisy and fake outrage, nobody does it better than MSNBC's Rachel Maddow. This Wednesday, she didn't disappoint, calling out Republican hypocrites who cut funding for the Veterans Affairs (VA) department and have the audacity to blame President Barack Obama and department Secretary Eric Shinseki's administrations.

"There is a modern American dysmorphia when it comes to veterans," she said. "We see things that aren't really there. We tell ourselves that we're doing things that we're not really doing. We have a poetry in this country about our love and respect for veterans that is not matched by the prose of how veterans are actually treated."

Maddow also made it clear that in March of 2003, the very same time the the Bush Administration began its war against Iraq - the Republican-led House of Representatives approved a budget that cut over $14 billion from the Veteran Administration's budget.

Not only that, but when correctly Shinseki told the American people that the Iraq War would take hundreds of thousands of soldiers in a prolonged battle, he was run out of Washington by Dick Cheney and Paul Wolfowitz.

Unbelievably, these very same Republicans are now engaging in a "coordinated effort" to blame Pres. Obama and Shinseki for a newly-created Veteran Administration bookkeeping "scandal".

"Not even the people who are clamoring for him to go - not even the people who are clamoring for the president to fire General Shinzeki - say they believe that that would solve the problem at the VA," Maddow said. "I mean, whether or not you want Eric Shinzeki to keep his job, what would it take to fix the problem?"
