The Second Amendment is not what people are referring to when they say our right to keep and bear arms is a "God-given right."
The Second Amendment was written to PROTECT that right - not to GRANT it. It is, like all our rights, an inalienable right; i.e., a necessary condition of human existence. Without the ability to defend our lives, our lives can be taken from us by a despotic government. That i why the Second Amendment was written - to protect our inalienable right to self-defense.
